Supernatural Comics Split Sam and Dean for the First Time in New Twin Series from Dynamite this Fall
Dynamite Entertainment is ushering in a bold new era for the Supernatural comics universe, sending Sam and Dean Winchester down separate paths for the first time in franchise history. Following the success of Greg Pak's acclaimed series, the publisher will launch two interconnected ongoing titles this October, with Chuck Brown and Paulina Ganucheau each taking one Winchester on a solo supernatural journey.
The split begins in September with the Supernatural: Wayward special from writer Paulina Ganucheau and artist John Amor. Bound by blood and purpose, Sam and Dean are torn apart by terrifying hellish forces, setting the stage for their individual adventures.
Starting in October, fans can follow each brother in his own series as they investigate eerie new cases while wrestling with the mystery of what drove them apart—and whether anything can bring them back together.
Supernatural: Dean Winchester teams Eisner Award-winning writer Chuck Brown (Aquamen, Black Manta, Dejah Thoris) with artist Rapha Lobosco (Mumm-Ra the Ever-Living). The series finds Dean battered and alone in the haunted streets of New Orleans during Mardi Gras, where he's determined to solve a case his father never could—even if it means killing a god.
"I've been a fan of Supernatural since day one," said writer Chuck Brown. "Writing Dean is going to be wild as he revisits his past case down south."
Meanwhile, Supernatural: Sam Winchester reunites Ganucheau (Disney Villains: Maleficent, The Powerpuff Girls, Lemon Bird: Can Help!) with rising artist Kendall Goode (The Terminator, Dirtbag Rapture). Haunted by an irreversible act involving Dean, Sam is lured to an abandoned Appalachian town by cryptic phone calls, where an ancient mystery—and eldritch horrors older than the mountains themselves—await.
"Supernatural is something that is a part of my DNA," said writer Paulina Ganucheau. "So getting this opportunity is a treasure. I can't wait to take readers and Sam along on an isolatingly perilous journey of tears and horrors."
Both series will feature a range of collectible covers. Supernatural: Dean Winchester includes artwork by Marguerite Sauvage and Rapha Lobosco, along with photo covers of Dean. Supernatural: Sam Winchester features covers by Ganucheau and Kendall Goode, as well as photo variants spotlighting Sam.
Collectors will also be able to hunt down mystery blind bag editions for both titles, featuring exclusive premium variants including logo-free covers, line art editions, and other special releases.
While Sam and Dean may be traveling separate roads, the two books are designed as intertwined stories, with Dynamite teasing that the brothers' paths will eventually converge once again as the next chapter of the Supernatural saga unfolds.
