Vampirella Enters the World of Pathfinder in New Crossover Comic This October
Dynamite Entertainment and Paizo Inc. are expanding their nearly 15-year publishing partnership with Pathfinder / Vampirella: Blade of Darkness, a new crossover comic series launching this October that brings the Daughter of Drakulon into the iconic tabletop fantasy setting for the first time.
Set in the sword-and-sorcery world of Golarion, the series begins when the powerful vampire lord Zaloch performs an ancient ritual intended to summon a being capable of tipping the balance of power in favor of vampirekind. Instead of unleashing a terrifying demon, the spell unexpectedly pulls Vampirella into the realm.
Her arrival quickly throws Golarion into turmoil as monster hunters descend on the scene and dark magic ignites a deadly conflict. Along the way, Vampirella crosses paths with some of Pathfinder's most celebrated heroes, including longtime companions Kyra and Merisiel, as the unlikely allies battle monsters, magic, and forces that threaten both worlds.
Writer Erik Burnham makes his Pathfinder debut after winning fans with his previous Vampirella stories, including her crossover with Dejah Thoris. Burnham is also known for acclaimed runs on Red Sonja, Ghostbusters, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. He teams with artist Federico Dallocchio, whose credits include Suicide Squad, Star Wars, and StarCraft.
"Golarion is a fantastic sandbox to play in, and the only complaint I've had so far is that I only have so many pages to explore it!" said writer Erik Burnham. "Not only has introducing Vampirella into a new world full of gods, monsters, and heroes been a treat for me, so has getting to write those gods, monsters, and heroes for the first time — and knock on wood, not the last!"
The creative team also includes returning Pathfinder artists Steven Cummings and Andrew Huerta, who provide variant covers for the series. Renowned RPG illustrator Wayne Reynolds contributes character sheet-style covers, while collectors can also hunt for rare editions through Dynamite's premium mystery blind bag program.
Pathfinder / Vampirella: Blade of Darkness promises an action-packed collision of fantasy, horror, and adventure as Vampirella navigates one of tabletop gaming's most beloved worlds. The new series arrives this October from Dynamite Entertainment and Paizo.
