ThunderCats is getting a fresh start this October as Dynamite Entertainment and Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products launch a brand-new comic book series from acclaimed writer Greg Pak (Planet Hulk, Darth Vader) and rising star artist David Cousens. Designed as a perfect jumping-on point for new readers while expanding the franchise's mythology, the series ushers in a new chapter for the heroes of Third Earth.

Following the events of Dynamite's current ThunderVerse saga, the ThunderCats are no longer the rulers of Thundera. Instead, they must carve out a new future in exile on Third Earth, where they coexist with the SilverHawks, the cat-hating Mu'Tants, and a host of unexplored civilizations.

Lion-O, still young despite his adult form, yearns for adventure and glory. But under the guidance of Tygra and the steadfast support of Calica, he must embrace diplomacy over battle as the ThunderCats work to build peace among the world's many factions.

That fragile peace is shattered when a mysterious meteor crashes across the sky, bathing an assembly of Third Earth's tribes in an eerie light. Its arrival heralds the rise of the enigmatic Feral King, whose intentions could reshape the fate of the ThunderCats, Mumm-Ra's forces, and every civilization on the planet.

Pak says the series captures the unpredictable spirit that made the original animated series so memorable.

"I've been hungry to dig into a story like this for years," said writer Greg Pak. "Anything can happen on Third Earth, and if you've ever watched the original ThunderCats cartoons, you know that anything and everything did. There's a huge element of surprise and wildness to this particular mix of science fiction and fantasy, and we're taking it as far as we can. I'm also thrilled to be working on a story that feels deeply relevant about heroes slamming up against the limits of monarchy and teetering between triumph and catastrophe as they struggle to become a free people. Huge fun, massive action, big emotion, and searing relevance? You want this book!"

Joining Pak is David Cousens, whose previous ThunderCats work includes acclaimed cover art and interiors for the Cheetara: Worldbreaker special. The creative team also features colorist Igor Monti, letterer Jeff Eckleberry, and editor Nate Cosby.

The debut issue will feature cover art from Cousens, Mark Spears, Daniele Cellini, Stephen Byrne, and Seth Damoose. Collectors will also have the chance to hunt for rare blind bag variants, with Dynamite teasing a major surprise that it says will be a first for the publisher. Additional details will be revealed closer to release to avoid spoiling the surprise.

The new ongoing series arrives alongside the previously announced ThunderCats: Cheetara, the first-ever ongoing solo comic starring the fan-favorite character from writer Saladin Ahmed and artist Andrea Arcari.
