The She-Devil With a Sword from Dyanmite Entertainment slips back into shadowy territory this summer with Red Sonja Noir: The Plunder & The Princess, an extra-length, pulse-pounding adventure from pulp master David Avallone and artistic collaborator Edson Novaes.
Much like the classic noir femme fatales who inspired her, Red Sonja continues to defy genre boundaries. Blending hardboiled detective grit with high fantasy spectacle, Avallone once again throws his Hyrkanian heroine into a stylish genre collision, building on the success of last year’s Red Sonja Noir outing.
“Last year’s Red Sonja Noir: The Crimson Calypso was a fun experiment in genre-mash-up, placing the She-Devil with a Sword in a classic detective story… which some eagle-eyed fans easily spotted," said writer David Avallone. "I had a lot of fun with it, and Dynamite must have been satisfied because they asked for a second issue. This one is another fun riff (on a more obscure story this time), and Edson did a terrific job bringing the complicated tale to life!”
In this thrilling new chapter, Sonja journeys to the private island of Zaralina, a luxurious haven reserved for elite merchants and nobility. But she’s not attending as a guest—she’s been hired as protection for an exclusive wedding. What begins as a glamorous affair quickly descends into chaos when masked bandits storm the ceremony, joined by a powerful sorcerer and a terrifying dragon that threatens to reduce everything to ash.
This 40-page spectacle is brought to life by Avallone and Novaes, alongside a striking lineup of cover artists. Lesley “Leirix” Li delivers a haunting, atmospheric interpretation of the iconic warrior. Robert Hack leans into retro noir vibes with his signature weathered style. Meanwhile, cosplayer Molly Stewart embodies the fierce power of Red Sonja in a stunning visual tribute. Collectors can also hunt for a premium mystery blind bag cover, offering rare editions and surprise variants for devoted fans.
With danger lurking behind every shadow and steel flashing under dim light, The Plunder & The Princess is shaping up to be a must-read chapter in Red Sonja’s ever-evolving legend.
