A New Hero Takes Flight: Chromium Debuts Ahead of ThunderCats x SilverHawks War
Dynamite Entertainment and Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products have revealed an electrifying addition to the expanding ThunderVerse mythology: a brand-new SilverHawk named 'Chromium'. The character will make his explosive debut just ahead of the long-anticipated ThunderCats and SilverHawks crossover event.
Chromium first appears in ThunderCats X SilverHawks: Road to War, arriving March 18. The prelude special is written by Ed Brisson, known for his work on SilverHawks and ThunderCats: Lost. The sleek new hero was created by superstar writer-artist Declan Shalvey, who will also helm the main crossover series. After his debut, Chromium will soar directly into the spotlight in ThunderCats X SilverHawks #1.
“After seeing what Ed developed with this new SilverHawks lore — assembling a new generation after the old guard — it’s been exciting to build on that with Chromium,” Shalvey said. “Much like Ed expanded the ThunderCats mythology with characters like Neko and Scorpius, this is about evolution.”
With crime lord Mon*Star out of the picture following the dramatic events of SilverHawks, a dangerous power vacuum has spread across the cosmos. Criminal syndicates are circling, and the SilverHawks find themselves stretched dangerously thin. To meet the growing threat, the team expands its ranks — bringing Chromium under the mentorship of veteran leader Quicksilver. In Road to War, the rookie and his mentor will be thrown headfirst into a high-stakes trial by fire.
Brisson echoed that enthusiasm: “We’re expanding the SilverHawks, and Chromium is just the beginning. He’s the first of the next generation — not the last. The arrival of these new SilverHawks will play a huge role in shaping this crossover. Declan designed an incredible character… and I couldn’t resist putting him straight into Road to War.”
The action escalates in ThunderCats X SilverHawks #1, written and illustrated by Shalvey. Chromium joins Quicksilver and The Copper Kid on a rogue mission that defies Stargazer’s direct orders. Their target: a long-dormant base hidden within a quarantined sector of space. But when they touch down on a forbidden planet, they encounter something far more dangerous than expected — a fierce band of cat-like warriors ready for battle.
With a bold new hero entering the fray and more surprises teased for future chapters, fans won’t want to miss this pivotal moment in the ever-growing ThunderVerse saga.
