Dynamite announces “Fire and Ice: Nekron” that Explores Dark Origins of Fantasy’s Most Chilling Villain
This December, the legendary world of Fire and Ice expands with a brand-new special comic book spotlighting its infamous villain, Nekron. Originally brought to life through the classic collaboration between Ralph Bakshi and Frank Frazetta, the saga continues with a personal touch—Frank’s granddaughter, Sara Frazetta, leads the charge as writer of the haunting origin tale.
The 28-page special dives deep into the tragic backstory of Lord Nekron, the tyrannical ruler of Icepeak and son of the fearsome Queen Juliana. Gifted in dark sorcery, Nekron uses his powers to wage war against Firekeep, moving glaciers with his will and threatening to crush all in his path. But behind this villain lies a tale of betrayal, grief, and unnatural birth. The story reveals Queen Juliana’s descent into darkness after witnessing her husband’s fiery death. Turning her back on the gods of balance, she pledges herself to the Wolf-God Ulghir, and gives birth to twin sons—one born of love, the other forged through blood magic. The fate of Ice and Fire begins here.
Renowned artist Geof Isherwood brings the story to life on the page. With credits on iconic titles like Doctor Strange, Suicide Squad, and Conan the Barbarian, Isherwood is a perfect match for this brutal and mystical tale.
